Alte Reben
The Local
The complex bouquet evokes red berries, blackcurrant, and delicate spices. On the palate, it is full of character and lively. Perfect for exquisite dishes.
A selection of Pinot Noir vines sourced from Switzerland. The oldest plot dates back to 1958 and forms the foundation of this wine. The old vines are very well-balanced and somewhat more tolerant of drought. This is reflected in the wine. Even in its youth, the Alte Rebe is harmonious and easy to drink. Its fresh, fruity aromas and approachable tannin structure distinguish this wine.

Vineyard
The vines have been cultivated organically since 2016. The vineyards of the Alte Reben are located on two different sites. One is the Landsknecht site, which has relatively sandy and well-drained soils, and the other is the Eichholz site, which is known for its high clay content and deep soil profile.
Production
The Alte Rebe is 100% destemmed and cold-macerated for about two weeks, meaning the berries are stored at 6°C, during which time the grapes’ own enzymes begin to break down the skins. The berries are then spontaneously fermented in large open wooden vats and punched down by hand. After fermentation, the berries are separated from the juice and aged in barriques for 12 months. 30% new oak.
